16. Mexicaltatan, Mexico

Being famous world over as ‘Mexico’s Venice’, it is a small man made island, off the coast of Nayarit. According to legends, it was the birth place and home city, the Aztlan of the Aztecs. This is the place from where they set out to establish Tenochtitlan.
